Description
The Kapellbrücke, Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reuss diagonally in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. This bridge is a Lucerne Landmark, Very famous for its length, age and paintings on the inside and it's Europe's oldes timber bridge. The defiant yet handsome Water Tower was erected before the Chapel Bridge, sometime around 1290–1300. Octagonal in shape and with sides 4.4–5 metres long, the edifice is rather unique. The tower is 39 metres in circumference and 34.5 metres in height. It has served a variety of purposes during its 700 years. As a lookout post, the comings and goings of boats in the town’s bay could be monitored.

Beautiful rendition! I was there in 1976 and enjoyed it very much. Many wonderful memories of that time.
Claudia Zahnd-Prezioso replied:
Thank you so much, Delores !! You were lucky to experience the "original" bridge..there was a huge fire 1993 and a large part of the roof and supporting beams were incinerated.
